Great Ways to Save Money on your Next Remodel

Great Ways to Save Money on your Next Remodel

It’s easy to break the bank when deciding to remodel your home, but it doesn’t have to.  Here are some ways to save on your next remodel project, without forgoing your dream!

  1. Think efficiency, not size.
By making your room more efficient as opposed to larger, you can save money.  Create drawers instead of cabinets to keep you more organized. Look at how you can make the space you already have work better for you, instead of adding more space, which is costly.
  2.  Donate your trash.
Ask Habitat for Humanity to come in and remove any pieces you will be getting rid of.  It saves you money on pricey clean up, and you can feel good about helping out! You can also go to a Habitat for Humanity Restore and find some gently used items to use in your new remodel to save some cash.
  3.  Keep your plumbing where it is.
Moving pipes can be an expensive job.  Look at your space and see how you can renovate around sinks and toilets to save money.
  4.  Go green.
Consider installing double pane windows.  While it may cost more money up front, it will end up saving you money in the long run on heating and cooling costs.  Add insulation to any exterior walls you may have to your home to save on these costs as well.
  5. Do your research.
This one may seem like a no brainer, but planning costs on supplies and labor before the remodel will save you a ton of money.  Switching up last minute on materials can cost a lot more than having everything ahead of time.

Having the home of your dreams doesn’t have to cost a fortune.  What are some money saving ideas that have saved you in the past?
